Bath's Stabilizer gives us a funky little number for FB's sixth release. This original mix has a nice little groove to it on the more mellower and funkier end of the breaks spectrum. Very groovy indeed. The Phantom Beats provide one of the other mixes, with their growling basslines that they have become well known for, driving the track to a new level. The Spoon Wizard, taking time out from working on his upcoming "Believe or Suffer" album, provides the second mix.

One year on and Functional Breaks are set to release the fifth single on the label and the third single from the Spoon Wizard 'Me and Spoonice' is the second track from The Spoon Wizard to feature local rapper Neil and is to be included on the forthcoming album from The Spoon Wizard which is due in the spring.

With a blinding breakbeat mix from Spoon Wizard, an artist signed to Exeter (UK) based Functional Breaks, the horror B-movie samples get annoying pretty quickly on the other tracks, they fit perfectly into Spoon Wizard's eerie late-nite breaks mix, his best production to date and easily the best track on this 12". Spooky sounds punctuated by lovely acid tweaks set the mood before a devious nu skool styled bassline is let loose to cause havoc on the dancefloor - a killer track!

Gizmo

Release number three from Functional Breaks features another West Country act, Exeter based SILKEN. Gizmo is a fat funky breakbeat tune, which has already become a favourite of Hybrid, Hyper, Tayo, and Danny McMillan on CDR with the track getting a play on Danny's show on Kiss FM. The mixes come from Bristol's General Midi with some dirty bass lines and The Spoon Wizard again showing his skill for producing minimal but ever building breaks tunes FB 003 SILKEN 'Gizmo' Full Release 10/07/00

Shoe Monkey

The second release from Functional Breaks again features Exeter based producer The Spoon Wizard. 'Shoe Monkey' is the first track from The Spoon Wizard to feature local rapper Neil who is working with SW on his album project. 'Shoe Monkey' is in same funky breaks style of Pantaloon but this one keeps on building and has all ready caused mayhem at Beatz & Bobz where it has been played for the last few months. Phantom Beats are again on remix duty, this mix being their first release after their own 'Growler'

Pantaloon

Pantaloon has been written and produced by Exeter based producer The Spoon Wizard (AKA Graham Gray) in his home based studio and is the first tune to be produced by him in over twelve months after a break from production after getting bored with the hard house material that he had been writing. As well as writing music for the dance floor, The Spoon Wizard has also authored tunes for other platforms, including computer games and fruit machines.
